Following a meeting of the Board of Trustees on 12th January, 2009, a new board was formed.
The Board of Trustees are in effect the guardians of the charity, and are responsible to the Charity Commission for ensuring that the charity meets its legal obligations and stated objects. Since 1984, this responsibility has been shouldered by three trustees, David d'Arcy-Hughes, Glenn Neil-Dwyer and Duncan Lofts, and their stewardship has seen numerous projects funded by the charity.
All three have now decided that time is ripe for a new board to take over and to oversee the future development of the charity. Accordingly, David, Glenn and Duncan have retired from the board and a new Board of Trustees has taken over. However, in order to ensure that a smooth transition is achieved and in recognition of the enormous experience and knowledge they've accumulated over the past 14 years, the retiring trustees have agreed to a request of the new board to act as advisors to the board for a period of time.
The new board currently comprises Lea Brocklebank, a Partner of Southampton legal firm, Bond Pearce, who has been elected Acting Chair of Trustees; Professor Lars Sundstrom, who has previously acted as an advisor to the charity for several years; Owen Sparrow, a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon at the WNC; and Adrian Price, Lead Partner with Solent Accountancy Practice, Morley and Scott. Biographies of these new trustees can be found on the following page and we expect to announce further appointments to the board in the near future.
In the meantime, we wish to put on record our sincere thanks to David, Glenn and Duncan for their considerable contribution to the work of the WNCT over so many years.
